Former Detroit Lions running back opens restaurant and sports bar near Ford Field

DETROIT – Rushed for more than 2,000 yards for the Detroit Lions. Now he’s opening a restaurant just a few blocks from the team’s home, Ford Field.

Joique Bell is co-owner Detroit Debate. Located at 1260 Washington Boulevard, the 11,000-square-foot restaurant, craft cocktail bar and cigar lounge opens its doors at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15.

The facility features large-screen televisions that can be seen from every seat in the house, luxury furnishings, and sports tickets.

“Parlay Detroit will be the go-to destination for all sports fans in Detroit,” Bell said. “Our team has worked really hard on every detail of Parlay to provide our guests with a next-level experience, from the energy in the room to our over-the-top menu and unique craft cocktails. “We are excited to show our customers what we can provide and we know they will keep coming back.”

In addition to Bell, Detroit’s ownership team includes husband-and-wife attorney Ameena Sheikh and entrepreneur Timothy Allen, along with investor Jared Chipman, managing partner Joel Dewberry and attorney Alex Simpson.

The menu was curated by Chef Nikki Steward and executed by Chef Russell Oliver, who moved to Detroit from Ohio.

Parlay Detroit will also offer a Cigar lounge with humidor, as well as VIP areas to store stogies in custom-built cabinets.

A secret conversation hall and lounge downstairs will also open soon. It is currently under construction.

Parlay will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Bell played four seasons with the Lions from 2012 to 2015. The Benton Harbor native, who attended Wayne State, played for the Bears in 2016 and then returned to the Lions for a few games that same season.
