Singer-songwriter Lindsay Lou will perform at Jefferson Center tonight

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – For last year, Lindsay Lou She is going on tour to promote her album “Queen of Time”.

Lou says the album’s title is a bit sarcastic for him and admits that time management isn’t his biggest strength

The title song, he says, is more about self-reflection.

“It is always going through changing times and challenging times that shows us the most about who we are,” says Lou.

Lou says he grew up in a musical family and was always singing and performing.

He was a human biology major in college.

“I was an undergraduate assistant in a laboratory studying plant adaptation and evolution. And as an undergraduate assistant, I wasn’t making as much money as I was making as a touring bluegrass musician,” Lou says.

Eventually, music won out and Lou began recording music and touring with the bluegrass band The Flatbellys.

As a musician, he says he still thinks like a scientist.

“You know, science and art are not that different,” he explains.

Lou’s musical influences include various artists:

From Bill Monroe to Emmylou Harris.

Lou will perform at the Jefferson Center on Friday night.

He says the audience should expect a mix of voices.

“I’ll be playing songs that I like, traditional songs, maybe a few bluegrass songs, maybe some folk songs, a lot of songs that I’ve written and recorded,” Lou says.

The concert at Jefferson Center starts at 8 this evening.
