LISBON — A Wellsville man accused of severely beating a Wellsville woman with a blunt object and then taking actions that likely caused a fire is facing multiple felony charges, including attempted murder.

Michael Stacy, 34, 19th Street, was indicted this week by a Columbiana County Grand Jury on charges related to the Oct. 17 attack.

In addition to first-degree felony attempted murder, the charges against him include aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, two counts of attempted aggravated arson, one count of a second-degree felony and one count of third-degree felony, third-degree felony kidnapping, and the presence or absence of a person. fourth-degree felony trespass to a habitable habitation where he is likely to be found.

Columbiana County District Attorney Vito Abruzzino said the defendant hit the woman “We’re serious enough to believe you’re going to kill him.”

He explained that he had trespassed on the property and used a wooden object to hit the woman in the head.

When police arrived at the property, officers said they found all of the stoves in the pit fully open, leading to the attempted arson. The second-degree felony count involved possible risk of harm to the woman, and the third-degree felony count involved possible risk to the home.

Stacy remains jailed on $100,000 cash or surety and is scheduled for an arraignment on December 12 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

The grand jury, which convened for two days and examined 44 cases, issued 6 open and 38 secret indictments. The secret indictments will not be made public until the documents are delivered to the defendants.

Other open indictments issued include:

— Robert Kastanek, 40, North Madison Avenue, Salem, two counts of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, for allegedly punching a woman in the face multiple times, using brass knuckles while punching her in the face and striking her ribs. He was on the ground in Salem on September 18th.

— Samantha Jo Ward, 39, Steubenville Pike Road, Lisbon, third-degree felony tampering with evidence, fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor child endangerment, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, driving under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse. or a combination thereof – OVI and an unclassified misdemeanor such as driving while suspended. During a traffic stop in Lisbon on August 5, Ward allegedly attempted to remove a small silver box from his vehicle after being told to leave all items in the vehicle, then re-entered the vehicle before exiting again. As Lisbon police attempted to handcuff him, he threw the box into a grassy area, where police found it contained suspected narcotics. He tried to enter the vehicle and resisted. The endangering children charge stemmed from the presence of three children in the vehicle who were allegedly driving under the influence. He was charged with possession of cocaine.

— Kara Carter, 42, Ohio Avenue, East Liverpool, fourth-degree felony strangulation, third-degree felony domestic violence and misdemeanor counts of aggravated menacing and unlawful restraint for allegedly pulling another woman’s hair and choking her during a physical and binding domestic incident 1 He was held captive in a bedroom in East Liverpool in October.

— William Weyand, 53, Laura Avenue, East Liverpool, a fifth-degree felony, for receiving stolen property for allegedly having $3,609 worth of stolen collectibles in his vehicle during a traffic stop Aug. 12 in East Liverpool.

— Michael Young, 43, Ravine Street, East Liverpool, unauthorized use of a vehicle, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly operating a 1998 silver Honda Accord without the owner’s permission on April 20.
