Threats made to 12 schools in New Orleans; wanted suspects

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans Police Department is searching for multiple suspects involved in threats made overnight at multiple schools in the city.

In total, 12 schools received threats. NOPD did not mention specific campuses.

The unidentified suspects face terrorism charges.

Sophie B. Wright Charter School canceled classes on Thursday, Nov. 14, after the school cited violent social media threats Wednesday night.

NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick spoke to reporters at a news conference Thursday afternoon. He said the students were safe and police were working to catch everyone involved.

“This absolutely cannot be tolerated, there will be consequences and I will tell you that the person or persons responsible for today and last night will be arrested,” Kirkpatrick said.

Sophie B. Wright school officials announced in a Facebook post that the school is monitoring the situation while ensuring the safety and well-being of students.

Eleanor Mcmain, McDonough 35, and Warren Easton also received threats but did not cancel classes.
