(Gray News) – Advance Auto Parts said Thursday it will close more than 700 locations.

The news was announced as part of the auto parts retailer’s earnings call, in which it shared that the closures were part of a plan to “improve business performance by focusing on core retail improvements.” to the report.

The reduction will include the closure of approximately 500 corporate stores and 200 independent stores by mid-2025.

The company did not disclose which locations would be included in the plan.

As of October 5, 2024, Advance operated 4,781 stores primarily in the United States, with additional locations in Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Major chain stores are on track to close the most stores in 2024 than in any year since 2020, when the pandemic decimated businesses, according to CNN.
