Storm system on its way to Arizona

PHOENIX (AZ Family) — Sunny and warm weather is expected in the valley today, the highest temperature in the afternoon will be approximately 83 degrees. That’s a few degrees above normal for this time of year in Phoenix and five degrees warmer than yesterday.

High pressure has been taking control of our weather for the past day. A storm system is moving into Arizona from the northwest, bringing higher winds to the state on Friday. The National Weather Service will likely issue a Wind Warning for the higher elevations of the country on Friday. We’ll be breezy in the valley at 10 to 15 mph, but that’s below advisory benchmarks.

The system looks dry for most of the state, especially the Valley, where no rain is expected. Light rain and snowfall is likely to occur in higher elevations between Friday and Sunday.

Rain and snow will likely fall in the Eastern Mogollon Rim, White Mountains and southeastern Arizona on Sunday.

This storm will bring much colder weather to the state, even in places without rain. The valley will see lows in the 70s on Friday and highs in the mid to upper 60s on Saturday and Sunday.
