But eight days after his victory at Ballerup, Archibald found the track cyclist “drugged up to my eyeballs as every doctor in London tried to relocate my shoulder”. shared on his Instagram account.

The Scot was racing alongside his UCI World Championships Madison partner Neah Evans in the inaugural London 3-Day event at Lee Valley VeloPark.

The duo took bronze in Denmark in early October and won the Madison and team heat events on Friday.

However, Archibald did not suffer any injuries during the race and revealed on Saturday afternoon that a “minor stumble” while exiting the track landed him in hospital.

“I had an accident with my motorcycle coming off the track and a little stumble. That little stumble SOMEHOW resulted in a shoulder dislocation. I don’t know how to do this, I really don’t,” Archibald’s Instagram post continued.

“I want to hide from the world and pretend like I’ve never done anything like this again. I was so ashamed. But this will just be a minor point.

“Right now it looks like I can continue my race schedule as planned. Just not as soon as tonight.”
