BYD Sealion 7 has officially departed for Malaysia. The new electric SUV is BYD’s fifth fully electric model in our market, after the Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal and M6.

For Malaysia, Sealion 7 is available in two different versions:

• BYD Sealion 7 Performance: RM183,800
• BYD Sealion 7 Premium: 199.800 ₺

Whatever model you prefer, you can choose from 4 color options including Cosmos Black, Aurora White, Atlantis Gray and Shark Grey. As part of the launch, Sime Darby Motors is offering a free home charger and RM800 worth of recharge credit to customers who purchase and register the Sealion 7 by 31 December 2024.

Quick features of BYD Sealion 7

BYD Sealion 7 Premium comes with rear-wheel drive setup and has a 230kW (308hp) engine capable of delivering 380Nm of torque. In terms of acceleration, this model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

As we mentioned before, Sealion 7 Performance is also available in Malaysia. This version comes with an all-wheel drive setup and has a 390 kW (523 hp) engine with 690 Nm of torque along with a 0-100 km/h timing of 4.5 seconds.

In terms of range, the Premium model can offer an NEDC-rated range of 567 km, while the Performance model offers an NEDC-rated range of 542 km. However, BYD has not released much more accurate WLTP range figures for the Sealion 7.

The same 82.5 kWh battery pack powers both versions of the Sealion 7 in Malaysia. This means they are based on the older 400V e-Platform 3.0 architecture, which has a much lower DC charging capacity of 150kW.

By comparison, the version sold in Europe is based on the newer 800V e-Platform 3.0 Evo with a much faster DC charging speed of 230kW. However, the Sealion 7 for the Malaysian market is equipped with an 11kW AC onboard charger; This is the first BYD model to come with it.
