BAXTER, Tennessee.(WSMV/Gray News) – A construction worker in Tennessee died after an accident at a new construction site on Wednesday.

Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said 41-year-old Joseph Kyle Lesko was part of a construction crew working on a new home near Maxwell Road when the crash occurred.

Lesko was on the roof of the house, where several rafters were temporarily held. One of the beams fell, creating a domino effect of 20 or more, officials said. The worker was trapped under the rubble.

Putnam County authorities said Lesko was killed immediately.

“This was an accident that resulted in a sad and tragic loss of life in Putnam County. Rescue personnel responded immediately, but the weight and forces of the beams were too great to handle,” Farris said.

The investigation of the incident continues.
