Minister Subramanian retracts “North Indians” claim and apologizes

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Wednesday (November 13) falsely claimed that “four North Indians” were behind the attack on an oncologist at Guindy Multi-Speciality Hospital in Chennai. He said this at a press conference after oncologist Dr Balaji Jaganathan was stabbed six times by a man posing as a patient. However, he later apologized for providing incorrect information.

“They just told me. About four North Indians came to the hospital for treatment and attacked the doctor after locking him in a room. He also said that Vigneshwaran believed that his mother was given wrong chemotherapy treatment and that was why he attacked the doctor.

According to Dr Jaganathan’s colleague, he suffers from multiple health problems, including heart and blood-related disorders, and had previously undergone major surgery for aortic valve replacement and a pacemaker implantation.
