“I couldn’t give birth to my children for three years. “I have not been found unfit by DHS,” Chico said. “My children are under guardianship. “This is a default tutelage and has been very difficult to reverse.”

An Oklahoma Judge has approved a five-thousand-signature petition calling for an investigation into the Department of Human Services.

Rosario said she decided to work within the department to make changes and see what was happening for herself.

“I didn’t want to be the mother who said my kids were failed by DHS,” Chico said. “I wanted to know that through experience, through education, through politics, yes, in fact, my children were failing.”

He said the community is upset with the way the department is handling certain issues.

“Mostly what happens is reports of sexual abuse and physical abuse of children,” he said. “These may be reported to DHS, but not to law enforcement.”

After reaching out to DHS, 2News received the following statement from a representative:

This is an unprecedented attack on public safety and human services officials across the state who work tirelessly to ensure the health, safety and welfare of children and vulnerable individuals in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Human Services has always been and will continue to be an advocate for transparency and will fully cooperate with any investigation initiated by the agency.
