NFL insider expects Panthers to stick with Bryce Young at quarterback

Bryce Young has effectively metaphorically returned from the dead this season. Carolina Panthers He benched him after two poor starts this year and put him back into the game in Week 8. He has since scored four goals and led the team to a 2-1 record. Despite this, Dave Canales did not commit to him after the bye week.

He remained neutral week after week and even said he was probably interested in seeing what Andy Dalton had and if he was an option in the future. As inexplicable as it may be, one NFL insider believes the Panthers will eventually do the smart thing with Young.

Dave Canales’ clear sight of an improved Bryce Young under center but remaining coy about who the starter would be made waves among the Panthers fanbase. It might be shocking to see Young return to the bench, but Canales seems to want that option open. But ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler isn’t buying it.

“I expect the Panthers to stick with Bryce Young. They felt Young played better in Week 10, even though he attempted 45 fewer passes than the previous week (25 yards against the Giants on Sunday, 26 yards the week before against the Saints). ” he said. “He was more efficient and threw on time with conviction. While coach Dave Canales is still quiet about the post-bye start, he’s now starting to feel like Young is keeping the job based on merit.”

Young’s play was much closer, though not quite, to what the Panthers wanted when they literally traded the farm to get him last year. It has had some ups and downs, particularly the downsides, but remains an intriguing option for the future. The Panthers need to understand this and realize what an intriguing option Young truly is.
