Three alarm fire reported in Marshfield

A three-alarm fire broke out near a beach in Marshfield on Wednesday, prompting firefighters from neighboring towns to help extinguish the blaze, authorities said.

At 12:32 a.m., Duxbury firefighters said via “All off-duty firefighters were called back to check the town.”

The message appeared over a photo of firefighters advancing toward a massive plume of smoke on Sheridan Drive in Marshfield.

Hanover firefighters also provided assistance, town officials said.

“Hanover Engine 1 and Vehicle 3 are responding to mutual aid to the Town of Marshfield for a 3rd alarm structure fire,” the Hanover Fire Department said. He said via Facebook at 11:18 a.m. “All off-duty firefighters were recalled to work to handle additional 911 calls in Hanover.”

Marshfield fire officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

According to WHDH-TV reporter Steve “Coop” Cooper’s X post, high winds coming off a local beach created difficulties for firefighters at the scene.

“Marshfield Firefighters battle high winds and persistent flames on Sheridan Drive next to Rexham Beach… fire crews scramble to stop flames from spreading to other homes,” Coop wrote over a video clip showing flames blowing in the wind.

It was not immediately clear which address on Sheridan Drive was engulfed, and authorities did not say whether anyone was injured in the fire.

This breaking news will be updated as more information is released.
