Finlay MacDonald, the defendant who shot Skye, is on trial for murder

A man went on trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, accused of murdering his brother-in-law at his home on Skye.

Finlay MacDonald, 41, is accused of shooting 47-year-old John MacKinnon in August 2022.

He is also accused of attempting to murder his wife, Rowena MacDonald, on the island and of attempting to murder a couple, Fay and John MacKenzie, at a property in Dornie on the mainland the same day.

Mr MacDonald denies the charges and has entered a special defense of disability by mental abnormality. The trial continues.
