Metro Crime Stoppers urge anyone with information about East Parkway shooting to come forward

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham Police detectives have completed their report into the shooting that killed the grandfather, but witnesses need to come forward to help them find the shooter.

Enrique Cortes Martinez, 45, was killed on Roebuck Parkway; His five-year-old grandson was in the truck when it happened.

Homicide detectives have completed their preliminary report, but officers say they cannot release anything new while the investigation is ongoing.

Martinez’s loved ones are grieving and do not want to talk at this time.

Officers said the victim was driving on the Eastern Parkway Monday morning when a driver pulled up next to Martinez and shot at the truck.

Birmingham Police confirmed Martinez’s grandson was also in the truck at the time of the attack. He was reunited with his family.

Bob Copus with Metro Crime Stoppers says he wants justice for both the little boy and his family.

“This is something that no child should ever have to go through. This is something that will be on that child’s mind for the rest of their life. So at least take some of the fear and tremendous stress off of that child and let’s get that person off the street,” Copus said.

You can earn up to $5,000 if you share anything that could lead to an arrest. Again, all you have to do is call Crime Stoppers or share a tip on their app.
