Car theft reported in BR; Deputies say the vehicle was later involved in a chase

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A vehicle reported stolen during a carjacking in East Baton Rouge Parish was later found dead in St. Louis, according to deputies. He was also involved in a chase by law enforcement in St. John the Baptist Parish.

Three teenagers were arrested in connection with the pursuit, deputies said. It was stated that two of the young people were under the age of 18, and the third young person was 18-year-old Jamal Bradley.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, the carjacking occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. Later that evening, the stolen vehicle was spotted in LaPlace near Western Airline Highway and Rue De Sante, deputies said.

According to deputies, the stolen vehicle eventually hit a fence in a subdivision and crashed into a tree near Lake Ponchartrain Elementary School. They added that the three people in the vehicle then set off on foot.

Bradley was eventually found walking at the intersection of Tuscany and Summerlin Road, according to deputies. Meanwhile, deputies said the second teen was found near one of the school buildings, while the third teen was found hiding in the bathroom of a nearby restaurant.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the car theft.
