PHOENIX — Police are investigating a fatal crash near Interstate 10 and 51st Street.

Crews were called to the scene late Monday night for an accident involving a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle.

ABC15 crews who were on the scene overnight confirmed that a person driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Department of Public Safety identified the man as 33-year-old Christopher Betterson-Bishop.

Authorities said Bishop was pronounced dead at the scene, and a woman was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to DPS, Bishop failed to stop at a red light at 51st Street while crossing the I-10 overpass. The semi-truck diver was traveling westbound on the I-10 Access Road when the accident occurred.

The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing.
