Man accused of robbing 94-year-old woman at Philadelphia pharmacy

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting and robbing a 94-year-old woman at a Philadelphia pharmacy.

The suspect, Johnny Boyd, remains behind bars on $400,000 bail, the district attorney’s office said at a news conference Tuesday.

Victim Jenny Pringle attended the press conference.

Investigators said Boyd targeted Pringle inside the Rite Aid while he was waiting for his prescription.

He allegedly attacked her and took her purse, but she fought back.

“This attempt was largely unsuccessful. Ms. Pringle held on to her purse until she was literally pulled from her chair. I say this now to show not only her stamina, but also the strength it took to separate her from her belongings,” he said. Asst. District Attorney Alexander Blumenthal.

The suspect fled but was caught a short time later and all of Pringle’s money was recovered.

Prosecutors said Pringle had just come from the gym before stopping by the pharmacy.
