Mariska Hargitay Bombshell movie star spoke briefly about losing his mother Jayne MansfieldHe details the “various traumas” he experienced over the years and how he overcame them.

“I lost my mother when I was 3 years old, and I grew up in a home full of people who were dealing with that tragedy in their own ways,” Hargitay, 60, said. Hope for depression The Research Foundation’s 18th Annual UMUT Luncheon Seminar is on Tuesday, November 12. “There was no room to prioritize anyone because there was so much pain. “We didn’t have the tools we have now to metabolize and understand trauma.”

Playboy Playmate and actress Mansfield died in a car accident in 1967 at the age of 34. Hargitay and her two siblings were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Hargitay received the 2024 Depression Advocacy Hope Award at the event held at The Plaza Hotel in New York. This year’s luncheon focused on trauma and recovery, which the actress touched on at length in her speech. Hargitay said she was “very late in her life” when she developed the tools to address her past traumas.

Hargitay continued: “I, too, experienced sexual trauma in my 30s, and it wasn’t until much later that I found the language to accept it for what it was.” The actor also references: Joyful Heart FoundationHe founded it 20 years ago as “part of a response to my own experience.”

Earlier this year, Hargitay revealed her personal experience with sexual assault in an interview.

“I have built a foundation that responds to trauma and survivors the way I want.” Law & Order: SVU star added. “I have been fortunate to find extraordinary therapists who have introduced me to many different healing modalities.”

Hargitay noted that being able to treat “how trauma lives in the body” is an integral part of the healing process. “These methods give me my life back,” he said.

“I don’t know if I will ever find the words to express my gratitude to those who accompanied me on my journey. “To those who reflected my trauma back to me, helped me integrate our different parts and metabolize my own trauma,” Hargitay continued her speech. “It’s the complex trauma that so many of us carry. We all have a story. “We all carry so much inside us that other people can’t see.”

Hargitay also discussed the Joyful Heart Foundation on Tuesday, calling it an “answer” to anyone who has experienced sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse in their lives.

“One of the most important things I have learned—if not the most important—is the depth, singular beauty, and far-reaching importance of the word responsive,” he added. Finishing her speech, Hargitay left a message for those in difficult situations: “There is hope.”
