A pedestrian wearing a medical ID patch was fatally struck by a pickup truck outside a hospital in Washington Township, police said.

George H. West, 69, of Gloucester City, was shot outside Jefferson Washington Township Hospital on Hurffville-Cross Keys Road on Monday, Nov. 12, around 8:25 p.m. West was identified through a medical ID patch, according to Washington County police.

Arriving officers attempted CPR, but West was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver remained at the scene.

A Jefferson representative declined to comment on the incident, citing a federal law that protects patient privacy.
