A New Bloomfield man died Monday from an apparent medical emergency that occurred while driving.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 65-year-old man was suffering from an apparent medical condition while driving, which caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

The truck traveled off the right side of westbound US 54 and struck several trees.

The vehicle turned into the westbound lane and crashed into the median cables and stopped.

The accident report stated that the crash occurred at 3:11 p.m. Monday on westbound US 54, east of the TT route in Callaway County.

The driver was pronounced dead at Capital Region Medical Center at 4:24 p.m.
