Florida State Offensive Line Commits Share Raw Reactions to Alex Atkins

Florida State’s 2025 recruiting class has taken several hits this fall, with five prospects withdrawing from the program since the beginning of September. The Seminoles are also struggling on the field, leading head coach Mike Norvell to move offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans.

Following the firings, Norvell said FSU has met all of its current commitments and top goals. Naturally, some of these recruits wanted to make their voices heard publicly.

The top vocal group in the class is five-star Solomon Thomas, four-star Peyton Joseph, four-star Mario Nash Jr. and three-star Daniel Pierre Louis were by far the best on the offensive line. Check out their reactions below.

Thomas is Florida State’s highest-ranked commit in the class and will be with the program since December of last year. He seemed upset by the news because he has a strong relationship with Atkins, but he will remain with the Seminoles for now.

“You are going to screw it up by firing my NGL coach,” Thomas wrote. “However, at the end of the day, it’s a business decision, and if you’re not talking business, I don’t want to talk business.”

The Florida native was heavily pursued by LSU and Florida despite his long-standing decision and took official visits to both programs over the summer. Norvell has work to do to keep him in during the Early Signing Period.

The 6-foot-1, 315-pound offensive lineman is considered the No. 23 overall prospect in the 2025 class, No. 2 in the IOL and No. 4 recruit in Florida, according to 247Sports.

Nash Jr. committed to Florida State in October after reneging on his previous commitment to Mississippi State. Atkins played a big role in his recruitment, but the top-tier prospect revealed he’s still a member of the #Tribe25. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bulldogs take one last shot at keeping Nash Jr. in his home state.

“It is truly heartbreaking to hear that (Coach Atkins) has been fired by (FSU Football),” Nash Jr. wrote. “Coach Atkins is family to me and I truly believe in him as a man and as a coach. I want the best for him and his family. I remain committed to that at this time.”

The 6-foot-1, 280-pound offensive lineman is considered the No. 217 overall prospect, No. 13 IOL and No. 7 recruit in Mississippi in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.

Joseph has committed to Florida State on July 4th due to Memphis. He was vocal about his promise to the Seminoles as he addressed other recruits who have left or are considering leaving the program. Joseph talked about his bond with Atkins on social media to show his respect for the coach.

It remains to be seen whether Joseph will sign with FSU after his future position coach was fired. This will likely depend on who the Seminoles tab replaces.

“This was a different kind of bond,” Joseph wrote. “The best is yet to come, I’m in love with this man forever. One of the truest in the game.”

The 6-foot-1, 309-pound offensive lineman is considered the No. 234 overall prospect, No. 13 IOL and No. 34 recruit in Georgia in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.

Pierre Louis became one of the newest members of Florida State’s 2025 class after joining the program over NC State and Florida in mid-October. He wished Atkins and his family the best in a post published Monday evening.

“He treated me as if I were his family,” Pierre Louis wrote. “I wish nothing but luck and success for (Coach Atkins) and his family!”

The Gators will host Pierre Louis for an official visit this weekend. They are arguably the top contenders to turn Florida State’s three-star prospect around.

The 6-foot-1, 290-pound offensive lineman is considered the No. 968 overall prospect, No. 64 IOL and No. 125 recruit in Florida in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
