Part of Sunset Rd in Henderson closed as Reimagine Boulder Hwy Project continues

HENDERSON (KTNV) — The city of Henderson continues its work to improve the Boulder Highway.

Starting Tuesday morning, Sunset Road will be closed in both directions from Boulder Highway east to Burns Road. Teams are carrying out rainwater drainage at the intersection to prevent floods in the area.

The closure is expected to last 90 days. Boulder Highway and Sunset Road west of Boulder Highway will remain open in both directions.

There are alternative ways you can avoid the shutdown. You can access I-11 using Galleria Drive and use Warm Springs Road to reach Gibson Road.

Part of Closing Reimagine Boulder Highway Project starts in August. There are also currently six median access closures along Boulder Highway:

  • Sturm Street
  • Church of St. Peter the Apostle
  • USPS/Pep Boys/Signature Prep School
  • Henderson Plaza
  • Boulder Apartments Summit
  • Museum Drive

Construction of the Reimagine Boulder Highway is expected to continue through 2027. During the first year, the city says they will work on the installation and removal of some utilities, such as storm drains, water and electricity. This work is planned to continue next year.
