Matthew Perry’s Los Angeles home has been purchased by real estate developer and filmmaker Anita Verma-Lallian.

Matthew Perry, known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing on the popular sitcom Friends, passed away at his home in Los Angeles in October 2023. Almost a year later, his house was sold for $8.55 million (approximately Rs 72 million). The buyer, real estate developer and filmmaker Anita Verma-Lallian of Scottsdale, Arizona, purchased the property as an investment, according to a report by The New York Times. The sale took place outside the market; Anita was represented by Brooke Elliott Laurinkus of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California, while Perry’s estate was represented by Greg Holcombe of Carolwood Estates.

About the property

Perry’s beautiful mid-century modern home spans 3,500 square feet and was built in 1965 on a 0.4-acre lot in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. Located in the hills, the home offers breathtaking ocean views, according to Architectural Digest. The backyard features slideable glass walls, a fire pit, and several covered patios, creating an inviting outdoor space.

The luxury property has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. The main living space, which includes the living room, dining room and kitchen, is centered around a silver electric fireplace. The kitchen features a casual dining area, a built-in wine wall, and white-gray cabinets.

The primary suite features a picture window in the bathroom, a floating double vanity, a soaking tub, and a large walk-in closet. Perry bought the property for $6 million (about Rs 50.5 billion) in 2020 and undertook several renovations, including the addition of a pool. A devoted Batman fan, he decorated the house with Batman-themed items, including a red LED-lit bat signal at the bottom of the pool.

Anita Verma-Lallian is the founder and CEO of Arizona Land Consulting, a Phoenix-based firm specializing in land development and property acquisition. Recently, his company has completed several major real estate transactions, including the purchase of a 131-acre property in Buckeye, Arizona for $20 million (approximately Rs. 168 million) and the purchase of a 600-acre site in Casa Grande for $40 million (approximately Rs. completed. 336 crore).

In August, Anita’s company sold a huge 2,100-acre property in Arizona for $160 million (approximately Rs. 1.345 billion). They had purchased this land in 2022 for only $40 million (approximately Rs. 336 billion).

Matthew Perry died in October 2023, at the age of 54, after being found unresponsive in the jacuzzi at his home in Los Angeles. Although authorities initially reported that he had drowned, it was later determined that his death was caused by the “acute effects of ketamine,” which also contained opioids in his system.

Perry, known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing in the TV series Friends, has openly talked about his struggle with addiction throughout his life. Just five days before his death, he shared a post on Instagram with a photo of himself in a hot tub.

Matthew Perry’s real estate portfolio also included a penthouse in Los Angeles that was sold to Rihanna for $21 million (approximately Rs. 176 million). Additionally, he owned a beach house in Malibu worth $15 million (approximately Rs. 126 million) and a Hollywood Hills residence that he bought for $5 million (approximately Rs. 42 billion) just a few months before his death.
