Where should Braves fans want Max Fried to sign, if not Atlanta?

The Braves’ offseason has gotten a lot more interesting over the past few weeks. With developments involving Joe Jimenez, Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta suddenly needs to bolster the rotation and bullpen as well as the outfield. But Max Fried’s free agency will still dominate Atlanta’s offseason.

MLBTR recently projected that Fried would get a $156 million free agency deal over six years, and it was also revealed that four AL East clubs were interested in Fried’s services.

“The Yankees have checked out free-agent ace pitchers (Max Fried, Corbin Burnes and Blake Snell), but it remains unclear whether they will also deal with Soto and the ace pitcher.” Jon Heyman writes. “The Orioles, Red Sox and Blue Jays are all at least after Fried. Boston wants to improve their pitching and they’re short on lefties, so Fried might make sense.”

So it looks like he’ll be leaving as things continue like this. If not Atlanta, where? You majority prefer Max Fried to sign?

The 30-year-old is among the most consistent lefties on the planet and any club would be much better off with him in their rotation. The Dodgers are also expected to enter the race with the California native, and I think I speak for all of Braves Country that Los Angeles will be at the top of the “Don’t sign here” list.

Heck, any National League club would side with the Dodgers, including a pair of NL East clubs in the Mets and Phillies. It would be difficult to watch both clubs in New York. I think most Braves fans would agree where they would prefer Max Fried to sign, even if it wasn’t in Atlanta. The Orioles, Blue Jays and Red Sox will all be at the top.

Boston needs a starter and already has a connection through high school teammate Lucas Giolito. They need to be aggressive to keep up with the rest of the AL East. Baltimore’s interest likely depends on what Corbin Burnes does in free agency. If they can’t bring Burnes back, Fried could be a great backup plan. To me, Toronto doesn’t really have a direction.

From where I sit, the Orioles were an ideal landing spot for Max Fried. They’re a fun team and far enough away that the Braves won’t face him unless it’s the World Series, but Baltimore is good enough to compete, so we might enjoy seeing Fried pitch as a contender.

What are you thinking? If you had a choice, where would you buy Max Fried’s land?
