A man opened fire at an assisted living facility Ohio Last week, a 70-year-old resident who was allegedly angry that his demands for repairs were not being met was identified.

The New London Police Department said 70-year-old Roger Murray shot and wounded two employees before committing suicide. The press release was published on the Facebook page.

“Resident Murray had requested multiple repairs for his apartment and felt his requests were not adequately met,” police said about the preliminary motive for the shooting. “He was even more distraught about the matter because of a pending site inspection.”

The shooting happened just after 10:50 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, at the Windy Acres senior living retirement facility. Police arrived to find two injured employees locked in the main office.

Windy Acres office manager Lora Gahagan, 52, of New London, was shot in the torso, while Windy Acres maintenance worker Kenneth Hawk, 56, of Lorain County, was wounded in the head, police said in the press release.

The workers, whose life was not in danger, were treated at the hospital and were later discharged.

“We are happy to say that both victims have been discharged from the hospital and are resting at home,” police said. “We want to praise them for their behavior during this stressful situation.”

New London Police Chief Joe Hicks said the attack was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the community.

“What I want the community to know is that everyone in our community is safe,” he said, adding, “This incident has nothing to do with our safety in New London.”
