Safety improvements begin in M6 crash ‘hot spot’

Safety measures will be carried out on the slippery road on the motorway following several serious accidents.

The road signs on the A684 at Junction 37 of the M6 near Kendal are being introduced to “discourage overtaking on the motorway bridge, reduce speeds and improve visibility at night”.

Westmorland and Furness Council, Cumbria Police and National Highways are working to reduce the risk of further crashes after two women died in a crash in September.

The closures will begin at 20:00 GMT and continue until 05:00 at night, and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
