Accused Sanjay Roy names former Kolkata Police Commissioner as conspirator, Kolkata, doctor, murder, rape, RG Kar, Medical College, Sanjay Roy, arrest, hearing, case

Kolkata: Civilian volunteer Sanjay Roy, who has so far been the ‘sole prime accused’ in the gruesome rape and murder case of a lady doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on Monday, alleged that former Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar blamed him. Goyal was the main conspirator in the framing of the case.

As Ray was being produced from a special court in Kolkata at the end of the first day of the trial process, Roy shouted at the waiting media persons and claimed that the former police commissioner had conspired to frame him.

“Vineet Goyal is behind the entire conspiracy to frame me falsely in this case. The deputy commissioner of the detective department was also involved in the conspiracy. Our government also supported them. So far I haven’t been allowed to speak. But today I am taking the names,” he said.

This isn’t the first time Roy has made such a claim out of court. He had made a similar claim outside the court while interacting with media persons in the prison van on October 4, when the charge framing process was completed in the special court.

However, he did not name anyone specifically that day and said his colleagues in his department, Calcutta Police, were responsible for framing him. That day, he also claimed that he was innocent in the case and that he had committed neither the rape nor the murder.

Hearings regarding the trial process will continue quickly and daily, and most likely the entire trial process will take place in front of the camera. Besides Roy, the lawyers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the matter, and the lawyer of the victim’s parents, Vrinda Grover were also present in the court.

According to the information obtained, the trial process started with the statements of the victim’s father and then the victim’s mother. There are a total of 128 witnesses in the case, including the victim’s parents, some colleagues of the victims, Kolkata Police investigators who conducted the initial investigation and forensic experts.
