PORTSMOUTH — A former teacher in the Bloom-Vernon Local School District pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexually abusing a minor student, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced.
Caroline Johnson, 36, who worked with disabled children and was an athletic trainer, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault, each punishable by one to five years in prison. He will have to register as a Tier III sex offender for the rest of his life.
Johnson will be sentenced on November 25.
Johnson was indicted by a Scioto County Common Pleas Court grand jury on Dec. 1, 2023, on three counts of third-degree felony sexual assault for allegedly having sex with a minor.
The indictment came after an investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation found that Yost had sexual intercourse with a minor while employed by Bloom-Vernon Local Schools.
An arrest warrant was issued for him and he was arrested on December 5, 2023 and booked into the Scioto County Jail.
