Gunman reportedly fatally shot by Philadelphia officers: Police

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A man is dead after a shooting involving multiple police officers in West Philadelphia on Sunday.

The incident happened just after 6 p.m. in the 5400 block of Chancellor Street.

Police teams responded to the report of an armed person. Investigators at the scene said a man with a gun jumped out of the vehicle.

Two officers then reportedly fired their weapons.

According to police, the suspect was shot multiple times. He suffered gunshot wounds to his arm, face and hip.

The suspect was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. There is no statement about his identity yet.

It is not yet known whether the suspect fired a gun, but a gun was seized at the scene.

Officials said the responding officers did not suffer any injuries in this incident. No further information has been released at this time.
