Teen arrested for robbery at Canandaigua market, charged with child endangerment

A Hudson teenager was arrested on charges of third-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child following a physical fight at Tops Market in Canandaigua. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said 18-year-old Eric A. Henry was taken into custody Monday night following the attempted robbery, during which he reportedly used physical force against the store’s asset protection manager.

Henry, of Hudson, is accused of extorting $41.75 worth of merchandise from Tops Market on North Street. According to authorities, Henry was allegedly involved with a minor who led him away from the scene immediately following the incident.

The minor, identified only as under the age of 17, was reportedly asked by Henry to assist in his escape, leading to an additional charge of endangering the welfare of a child. Law enforcement captured Henry later in the day in the parking lot of a commercial area on Commerce Drive in Victor, where he was later taken into custody and transported to the Ontario County Jail.

Henry remains in custody awaiting arraignment through the Ontario District Court’s Central Arbitration Program.
