New York-listed investment bank Evercore has sold its stake in Luminis Partners, ending a nearly decade-old stake in the Australian consultancy firm as bankers predicted deal-making would accelerate.

Evercore, called Goldman North because of its success, its headquarters outside downtown New York and its propensity to hire Goldman Sachs graduates, sold a nearly 20 percent stake in September, according to filings with the U.S. regulator. Luminis paid a nominal amount to buy back the shares.
