Lim Kim wins first LPGA event since 2020 US Women’s Open at Lotte Championship

HONOLULU – Bir Lim Kim won the Lotte Championship for her second LPGA Tour title on Saturday, closing with a 4-under 68 for a two-stroke victory over rival Nataliya Guseva.

Kim ended her six-hole par streak with a birdie on the par-5 18th, one stroke before Guseva opened the day at airy Hoakalei Country Club.

The 29-year-old South Korean player rose from 65th to 22nd in the Race to CME Globe rankings, securing a place in the 60-player season finale that will pay $4 million to the winner. She won the US Women’s Open in December 2020.

Guseva was trying to become the first Russian winner in LPGA Tour history. The 21-year-old former Miami player parred the last five holes for a 69.

Let’s take a look at the prize money won by winner A Lim Kim and the field in the Lotte Championship.

Kim finished the race at 18-under 270.

Auston Kim took third place in the under-15 category after a score of 67. Nasa Hataoka (67) shot another and Japan’s Yuri Yoshida (69) and Ryann O’Toole (70) were 13-under.

Angela Stanford finished 26th at 5-under with a 71 in what may have been her last LPGA Tour event. The 46-year-old Texan has seven tour victories.

“I didn’t really get emotional until I looked at my scorecard,” Stanford said. “I said today that I want to be myself, I want to play my game. I hit every green on the back nine. “My solid play is what I’ve relied on throughout my career, and that brought tears to my eyes.”
