MARION, Illinois (KFVS) – A man is in custody after Williamson County deputies found drugs, including meth, at a southern Illinois airport.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, deputies responded to the Southern Illinois Veterans Airport in Marion.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that TSA agents found 18 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in a passenger’s checked luggage while performing a security screening.

Derrick D. Thompson was arrested and convicted of possession of methamphetamine.

Thompson was transported to the Williamson County Jail and taken into custody.
