Customers were forced to flee when car crashed into Gwinnett County restaurant

One of the owners of Fresca Trattoria joked that he is now the co-owner of “Lilburn’s newest drive-thru” after the Italian restaurant was hit by a speeding car Saturday afternoon.

Lisa Myers is the kind of person who will always try to find the silver lining. He found customers enjoying brunch while thus making light of the dire situation that unfolded around 3 p.m.

Surveillance video showed the dining group jumping from their tables seconds before a car sped toward them, scattering glass everywhere.

“Honestly, when I saw the video, the waitress, who is my daughter, was standing here for about three minutes before the car arrived. So I’m glad she’s OK with everyone else,” Myers told FOX 5 photojournalist Billy Heath. .

Gwinnett County police have not yet released details of the investigation into the incident, but Myers told FOX 5 Atlanta he spoke with the driver after the crash. According to the driver, his car’s accelerator pedal jammed and its brakes unexpectedly failed.

Myers said he will rely heavily on the community’s support to help Fresca Trattoria recover until the insurance company gets back to him.

“We would be happy with that. We don’t know what the woman’s insurance covers and what it doesn’t cover,” he explained. “Come visit us. We’re Lilburn’s newest drive-thru. We make fresh pasta every day.”
