BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Police arrested two men who fired multiple shots at a children’s playground Saturday morning.

Around 4 a.m. Saturday, the Battle Creek Police Department responded to a report of two men standing in front of an SUV and shooting at objects on a playground inside an apartment complex in the 200 block of Taft Court. Police teams arrived at the scene upon notice, found the SUV near the apartment and stopped traffic. A rifle and ammunition were found inside the vehicle, placed between the 19-year-old driver and the 23-year-old passenger.

Police found 17 shell casings in the SUV and apartment complex.

The two men were arrested and face weapons-related charges. The young driver will also face additional charges for driving while intoxicated.

The incident remains under investigation by the Battle Creek Police Department.
