Milwaukee Brewers Infielder Brice Turang Wins the Platinum Glove Award!

Congratulations are in order for Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang, who won the National League Platinum Glove Award on Friday night.

Turang won the Gold Glove Award and subsequently beat out all other Gold Glove winners for the platinum award. This is the first Platinum Glove Award of his career. He is the first in Brewers team history to win the Platinum Glove.

The following comes from the Brewers website:

Turang led not only second basemen, but all Major League infielders with 22 Defensive Runs Saved this season. He also led all NL outfielders in Baseball Reference outfielders. Defense Wins Above Replacement statistics

Turang said of the keys to his defense: “The first step is really important. The distance you cover. How many routine plays you play compared to other players. Things like that are important.” After being selected as Golden Glover. “But the main thing is to win. If I can help my team win, I will do it in any way possible. That’s what really matters.”

Not only was Turang excellent defensively, but he also helped the Brewers in the field and on the bases. The 24-year-old California native hit .254 with seven homers and 50 stolen bases.

He was an important part of the event brewers The ability to win the National League Central this season. Despite losing Corbin Burnes (trade), Adrian Houser (trade), Brandon Woodruff (injury), Wade Miley (injury) and Robert Gasser (injury), the Brewers had the widest gap between the first- and second-place teams in baseball this year.

They advanced to the National League wild-card series, losing to the New York Mets in three games.

Before being named a Gold Glove finalist, Turang and teammate Sal Frelick joined our Fastball team at FanNation. You can listen and see more Here.
