Jewelry store owner says robbers stole nearly $2 million worth of gold

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The owner of Dubai Jewelry on Nolensville Pike is dealing with the fallout from a robbery that could lead to the closing of the store he’s been building for 15 years.

The incident, which unfolded over a terrifying four minutes, left him in disbelief and fearing for his safety.

The business owner, who preferred to remain anonymous out of fear, received a shocking phone call from his employees at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

“They opened their shops, and we saw that they were waiting for them to put all the gold in the safes after they finished their work. “They were about to get some rest when the incident happened,” he said.

According to the owner of the store, two robbers entered the store, one of whom was carrying a bouquet of flowers and pretended to browse. A third suspect then used a screwdriver to jam the door, preventing it from locking. The situation quickly escalated; It was reported that employees were sprayed with mace and threatened at gunpoint.

“I feel so bad; My heart is broken. “It’s very, very bad,” said the owner. The robbers escaped by taking gold bullion, rings and necklaces worth approximately $2 million, stuffing their loot into garbage bags.

This isn’t the first time Dubai Jewelry has been targeted. “I was targeted in 2022 and we haven’t seen any police around since then. “But unfortunately, when we are targeted, we see the police,” he said.

Although a security guard was patrolling the parking lot, police were reportedly unaware of the robbery until hours later.

Frustrated by the lack of law enforcement, the owner emphasized concerns about safety despite the significant taxes and fees he paid. He says he wishes there were more patrols and law enforcement in the area to deter crime.

He fears his business may not survive if the suspects are not arrested.

“I’m done. They reduced my balance to zero. If they are not caught, I will close the business,” he said.

Metro Nashville Police are actively following leads in the case. Luckily the store has security cameras covering all angles and access is tightly controlled with a voice system for customers.

But the owner of the house faces a daunting challenge: His insurance does not cover the losses, increasing the urgency of finding those responsible for the crime.
