Florida-Texas Predictions, Picks and Best Bets: Injured Alligators Strike Hard

The Florida Gators are having a forgettable season, but a memorable performance against the 5th-seeded Texas Longhorns will more than make up for it. While Chris Hatfield isn’t predicting a clear-cut win, he believes the Gators put up too many points.

Florida and Texas will meet in SEC action for the first meeting in a long time.

The Horns will have a bye week and a close win against Vanderbilt, but my Florida-Texas predictions have the Gators going for a lot of points.

my analysis
No matter what it looks like, Florida Even if it was tough, he at least positioned himself to make a bowl game.

The expectation for the Florida football program goes far beyond winning a bowl, but a fair number of people doubted it could get to six wins (and still might not). Their ability to continue to fight week after week over the past month has been admirable and has given me the confidence to support them here. I’m taking Florida by just over three goals. to cover my best bet.

If you had asked me a month ago I would have told you Texas It was the best team in college football. Then came the loss to Georgia, a loss that was never in doubt and did not inspire confidence after Texas trailed Vanderbilt a week later. The score was probably closer than the game actually was, but make no mistake, the Horns had to battle to come away from Tennessee with a win.

“Quinn had a good week,” head coach Steve Sarkisian said. “He looks fresh, he looks healthy. He throws the ball well.”

Quinn Ewers definitely needed a good week of practice. It looks like his bye week has come at the perfect time for him after throwing two interceptions against the Dores. I can say that there is some kind of doubt here that they will also benefit from the bye week, but I think it is a little overpriced at the spread I made at 17.

That’s because Florida’s defense has quietly improved as the season has progressed and he can make an impact here.

Entering this matchup, Florida ranks 34th in EPA per drop back, but more importantly than that handicap, they have managed to create a huge amount of damage. In fact, if we take a subset of the data from the last three games, Florida has caused the third most havoc in the SEC, which is huge for this matchup.

Ewers has been inconsistent since returning from injury. He’s still a talented pass rusher, will make some big throws, but I’m not sure he’s making the Texas-sized breakthrough some are expecting this year. Against this defense, I think Florida can come up with some possessions to take advantage of. Not only that, but Texas’ offense’s success rate is directly correlated to its success on third down. This Florida defense should at least be able to make some plays that will put them behind the chains and make those conversions much more difficult.

On the other hand, there’s not much to say about Florida’s offense, but it’s not an integral part of my handicap.

If we can get more than one score from them I think we will be in a good spot because I think they will do everything possible to shorten this game and maintain possession. Florida will have its third starting quarterback of the season after two injuries, another fact that inflates this situation even more.

There isn’t much information on Yale Transfer Aidan Warner, but his 22 passes against Georgia were pretty pedestrian.

However, you can bet Florida is planning safe shots and looking for ways to drain the clock against one of the nation’s best defenses at this point. All in all, there aren’t a lot of positive things to say about the Florida scrimmage, but that downside comes from the fact that it’s a few too many points, given expected game theory.

Jadan Baugh always TD

There’s a lot of value here.

As we noted above, we expect Florida’s approach to this game to be a time-consuming drive and a time-consuming play call. With this in mind, the first leg of our negotiation in the same game is Under. It’s a number that’s exactly the same in how this game is projected, but if Florida is involved, this game goes down in almost every case.

The final leg of this is Jadan Baugh finding the end zone. This game has two parts, so it is divided into three. First, injuries to running backs, particularly those to Montrell Johnson, opened things up for Baugh. Second, if Florida gets into position to score, they’re unlikely to take too many risks with a third-string quarterback, and Baugh had the most carries of any player last week. We will buy it at this price.

  • Florida has been a defensive machine of late with a 5-0 ATS record in their last five games.
  • Unfortunately, that five-game stretch included only five wins for the Gators. Those wins were over Kentucky, Central Florida and Mississippi State.
  • Texas can only manage one loss this season, but they haven’t performed well lately, playing just once in their last four games.
  • None of these teams are leaning in any particular direction overall. The two schools are ahead 11-9 in their last 10 games overall.
