Thompson Health earns top recognition from the American Heart Association for workplace wellness

UR Medicine Thompson Health achieved Platinum, the highest recognition, on the American Heart Association’s 2024 Well-being Works Better Scorecard, recognizing the healthcare organization’s commitment to promoting a healthy and supportive workplace.

The Scorecard evaluates workplaces based on best practices in health equity, burnout prevention, and employee benefits. Companies can achieve Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum ratings; Platinum indicates the highest level of adherence to the Union’s health standards. Thompson Health previously achieved Gold but made strategic improvements to reach Platinum in 2024.

Jennifer DeVault, Vice President of Associate Services and Wellness, attributed the success to a rigorous gap analysis that identified areas for growth. “Our Wellness team intentionally met standards to earn Platinum through initiatives that promote healthy eating, such as Healthy Eating Wednesdays,” DeVault said.

Wellness Coordinator Kristen Seyfried noted the team’s two-year effort to move forward from Gold, highlighting new initiatives such as Mental Health First Aid training, support groups and a wellness survey to meet employee needs. Additional benefits include physical activity programs, discounted wellness resources, and pet care support through TheCare.com.

The American Heart Association’s Scorecard encourages employers nationwide to implement science-backed practices to support workforce well-being. To learn more and view the full list of recognized organizations, visit: heart.org/workforce.
