Orangeburg, S.C. (WOLO) — The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is asking community members to offer “comfort and support” to the family of a female Cardova deputy who says she went home to an area pharmacy during a heavy downpour and never returned.

Authorities announced that they will be searching for 66-year-old Valerie Goff, who was reported missing. That was until authorities said the car he was driving, a Nissan Cube, was found in floodwaters near Glover and Andrew Dibble Avenues. The amount of rain led Governor Henry McMaster to declare a state of emergency for the Orangeburg area as floodwaters washed out roads and closed schools.
