A Cardova woman reported missing was found in floodwaters in Orangeburg

A Cardova woman reported missing was found in floodwaters in OrangeburgOrangeburg, S.C. (WOLO) — The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is asking community members to offer “comfort and support” to the family of a female Cardova deputy who says she went home to an area pharmacy during a heavy downpour and never returned.

Authorities announced that they will be searching for 66-year-old Valerie Goff, who was reported missing. That was until authorities said the car he was driving, a Nissan Cube, was found in floodwaters near Glover and Andrew Dibble Avenues. The amount of rain led Governor Henry McMaster to declare a state of emergency for the Orangeburg area as floodwaters washed out roads and closed schools.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell urges everyone who knows the family to pray and also asks that the family be given privacy during this difficult time.
