ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – An Elmore County grand jury failed to return any indictments in the Daniel Williams case.

Williams was allegedly beaten, tortured and sexually assaulted in October 2023 at Staton Prison in Elmore. He was from Jefferson County.

The case was investigated by the Alabama Department of Corrections Law Enforcement Services division.

District Attorney CJ Robinson said it took a long time to hear the evidence and for the grand jury to deliberate, but they were unable to get 12 votes for an indictment.

Robinson said he may resubmit the case if new evidence emerges.
