CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A Minnesota man was arrested by Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies after the Flock system alerted deputies to a stolen vehicle.

The alert was for a 1999 GMC Denali stolen in Montgomery, Minnesota, and was driven by a wanted suspect who was possibly armed, according to the CCSO statement.

Deputies found the vehicle in the parking lot of Aşkın Truck Stop. Deputies, along with members of the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force, took a tactical approach to the vehicle.

The suspect was asleep in the backseat with a loaded shotgun within arm’s reach, according to CCSO.

CCSO identified the suspect as 29-year-old Bryton Nelson. He was taken into custody without incident.

Nelson is currently facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a weapon by a convicted felon
  • Possession of a weapon in the commission of certain crimes
  • Theft by bringing stolen property into the state

“Sheriff Hancock is proud of his deputies and Nelson’s safe capture,” the statement said.
