Denver Nuggets Announce Jamal Murray Injury Update Against Miami Heat

The Nuggets head into Friday night’s home game against the Miami Heat on a three-game winning streak after previously beating the Oklahoma City Thunder, Toronto Raptors and Utah Jazz. While the Nuggets have dealt with injury issues to start the year, they look to get a return from one of their key players tonight.

Head coach Michael Malone, who suffered a concussion in the third quarter of their 119-116 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, said before the game that he expects star guard Jamal Murray to be ready tonight unless any sudden changes are made during his warm-up routine.

Via Vinny Benedetto of The Denver Gazette: “Michael Malone says the expectation is Jamal Murray will be available tonight as long as he completes his pregame routine without any problems.”

The Nuggets have made it official that Murray will return for this game against the Heat.

Via Nuggets: “Jamal Murray is ready to play in tonight’s game against the Heat”

A concussion sidelined Murray during the Nuggets’ current winning streak, leading nine-time All-Star Russell Westbrook to replace him as the starting point guard. Westbrook joined the Nuggets last summer after being released by the Jazz and signing a two-year contract in Denver.

Westbrook averaged 18.3 points, 6.3 assists and 5.0 rebounds in his first three games, and the Nuggets won all three games.

With Murray available tonight, he will look to improve on his difficult start to the season in terms of efficiency. He’s currently shooting under 40% from the field and just over 30% from behind the arc, luckily for Murray the Heat are currently allowing opposing teams to shoot 37.8% from 25-29 feet, which will help him get back into his rhythm will allow. .

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM PST at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
