Antique Promotion Tour star Andy McConnell has unveiled his ‘finished’ home, which was deemed unfit for living. The 71-year-old actor, who has been a regular on our screens since 2005, shared his plans to renovate his home earlier this year. He said: “I bought it four years ago for £230,000 and it has definitely increased in value. It was a complete flop when I bought it and was unmortgageable… Actually the details said it was not fit for human habitation so I thought it was right for me and £95,000 off the asking price.” I got a £ discount.”

His expertise eventually earned him a spot on the iconic Antiques Roadshow. As well as appearing on the BBC programme, he also lectures about glass and writes for various publications. Fans would visit Andy’s antique and vintage glass shop, Glass Etc, in Rye, East Sussex. But it had to close during the coronavirus quarantine.

Before becoming an antiques expert, Andy was a rock and roll journalist in Hollywood. He interviewed many famous bands in the 70s, and even shot promotional videos for rock stars in the 80s. After living a luxurious life for a while, Andy decided to pursue a career in antiques.

At the beginning of this year, Andy updated his fans about his health condition, telling fans that he suffers from emphysema, one of the diseases that constitute COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

Andy admitted that he seriously regrets smoking too much. “As someone who has smoked 30 cigarettes a day for 50 years, I think cigarettes should cost £500 a pack,” Andy told This is Money.
