Warren police investigators are working to determine what led to the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man in a residential neighborhood near Nine Mile Road and Lorraine Boulevard.

Early Friday morning, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 11000 block of Paige Avenue. When they arrived on scene and began investigating, officers found a male deceased in the backyard of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to a statement from the Warren Police Department, information gathered at the scene of the shooting on Paige Boulevard led officers to a residence six blocks away on Jewett Avenue where the persons of interest and/or suspects were believed to be located.

Police spoke with several people in the area and learned that the assault may have been linked to a previous domestic violence incident involving the victim, his ex-girlfriend, and possibly family members of the ex-girlfriend.
