Trump Assassination Plot: Iranian Agents Accused

Three people charged in alleged Iran-linked assassination plot Donald Trump before the election, according to a criminal complaint unsealed in New York on Friday.

Iranian officials asked Farhad Shakeri, one of the men indicted in September, to focus on spying on and assassinating Trump, according to court documents. He is currently a fugitive in Iran.

Two New Yorkers, Carlisle Rivera and Jonathan Loadholt, were also arrested and charged with murder for hire, the Justice Department said.

Shakeri told investigators: Revolutionary Guard contacts halted efforts to kill Trump when he failed to come up with a solid plan.

Shakeri allegedly met with Rivera and Loadholt while in prison on robbery charges and hired them to assassinate Masih Alinejad, a Brooklyn human rights activist who criticized Iran’s oppression of women.

Alinejad shared on social media that he was one of the targets. “I was shocked. “I just learned from the @FBI that two men have been arrested in a new plot to kill me at Fairfield University, where I was scheduled to speak yesterday.”
