Wildfires keep coming in dry NJ. Here’s the latest – NBC10 Philadelphia

The situation for firefighters in New Jersey was further weakened Friday when another wildfire broke out in the state’s bone-dry conditions.

At least four wildfires were burning in the state, stretching from the Philadelphia suburbs to the Pinelands in the central and western parts of the state and the New York City suburbs.

The most recent fire broke out on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs in Bergen County, across the Hudson River from New York. 30% were under control and no homes were threatened.

It was smaller than three other fires burning in New Jersey, each burning less than a square mile as of Thursday.

“It seems like it’s been going on non-stop,” Bill Donnelly, the state wildfire warden and chief of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, said Thursday. “This year was so dry, October was the busiest month on record for the forest service.”

Fire officials provided an update on three large wildfires burning in New Jersey Thursday night. Say that Friday will be worse due to weather conditions.

Crews are getting closer to taking control of homes threatened by wildfire in Burlington, Camden counties

Bethany Run Wildfire continued to burn That was about 24 hours after the fire broke out along the borders of Burlington and Camden counties in Evesham and Voorhees counties, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said in a statement Friday morning.

But progress was made overnight, officials said, as the fire was 75% contained, burning about 360 acres (or about a half-mile).

Red flag warning for wildfires in New Jersey

Conditions on Friday were much more dangerous than the day before, according to the National Weather Service issue a red flag warning High winds and low humidity are expected, which could help fires spread quickly.
