Training Status of Jaguars’ Franchise Quarterback Revealed

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was limited for the second straight day as his status for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings is now entirely in doubt.

Lawrence was limited in Thursday’s practice with a left shoulder injury; This injury was sustained on a hit against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9. Lawrence didn’t miss a beat during the game, but the Jaguars were eventually able to turn to backup Mac Jones.

“With Trevor being limited day-to-day and throughout practice, we mix and match wherever possible and whoever gets as much representation will get it,” Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said Thursday. “It depends a little bit on the era and what the medical advice is.”

In addition to Jones, the Jaguars also brought back former quarterback CJ Beathard this week to give the team extra insurance against the Lawrence injury.

“Yes definitely. Especially in our system, having league experience as a starter and league experience as a reserve is a very different mentality for you. This is a big thing,” Taylor said.

“Comfort in the locker room, comfort in the coaching staff. A lot of the things that CJ was very valuable to us can come back to our room.”

Also available for the Jaguars are running back Tank Bigsby (ankle), wide receiver Gabe Davis (shoulder), running back Travis Etienne (hamstring), running back D’Ernest Johnson (hamstring), offensive guard Brandon Scherff (knee), defensive tackle was also limited for the Jaguars. Maason Smith (ankle), wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (chest), safety Daniel Thomas (hamstring) and safety Andrew Wingard (hamstring).

Among those who did not attend practice was Ezra Cleveland.
