Vice President Kamala Harris has the support of a host of celebrities, from Taylor Swift to Eminem to Usher, but some critics say the campaign should be relied upon. It relies heavily on star power.

“The marketing is disgusting,” Thomas said of Obama’s involvement in the campaign. “I don’t think he’s in a place where he can come from his mansion on Martha’s Vineyard and talk to people and tell them how they should think and how they should vote. That’s so irrelevant.”

Rock legend Bruce Springsteen, whom Harris calls an “American icon” and who has supported Democratic presidential candidates for two decades, performed three songs at the rally Thursday night.

Actor, filmmaker and playwright Tyler Perry, film director, producer, screenwriter and actor Spike Lee and actor Samuel L. Jackson were also among the speakers.

Trump Gains Support from Many Black Male Celebrities as Harris Struggles with Black Men

Reacting to the star-studded event, Trump campaign rapid response director Jake Schneider charged that “reliance on celebrities is nothing new for the party of the Hollywood elite.”

The former president has received support from many celebrities, including country music star Jason Aldean. She also enjoys the support of other celebrities, including the Telsa founder and multimillionaire. Elon Musk, hip-hop star, rapper and fashion designer Kanye West, singer Kid Rock, actors Jon Voight and Kelsey Grammar, former NFL star quarterback Brett Favre, former Indy racer Danica Patrick and celebrity chef Paula Deen.

Despite the Hollywood fanfare of the campaign, Harris is struggling to hold on to a key voting bloc usually held by the Democratic Party (Black Americans).

“I think (Harris’s) experience is a misleading world. I think he’s not willing to face the fact that they’re losing their major voting bloc. They’re losing black people. They’re losing Latino people. They’re losing.” Suburban women, I think she doesn’t want to face the fact that these people are turning to President Trump because his policies are more beneficial to these communities,” Thomas said.

Harris withdrew support Among Latino and Black voters in the seven weeks between surveys. A recent USA TODAY/University of Suffolk poll found that Latino voters now support Trump by 49% to 38%. Black voters favor Harris by 72% to 17%, but that 55-point margin is much smaller than the advantage Democrats have traditionally held.

Observing the shift in Democrats’ traditional approach, the Harris campaign has stepped up efforts to appeal to these key voting blocs.
